2013-2014 News
Our Year End Concert will take place on Saturday the 26th April at 3.00pm in the Helix at DCU
Senior Uniform:
Long sleeved black blouse with collar/ black shirt
Long black trousers
Black shoes
Junior Uniform:
YOPS Jumper +white polo shirt
Long black skirt & black tights / black trousers
Black shoes
Students must come in uniform
Please bring Music Stand and Music and a spare set of strings.
Please note you are responsible for your own instrument, stand and music. Please ensure that your name is on all your property
It is necessary to be at the Helix for a sound check and seating as follows
- 11.30 am YOP String ensemble
- 12.00 pm -YOPS Flutes
- 12.20 pm -YOPS Senior Orchestra
- 12.50 pm -YOPS Junior Orchestra
- 1.20 pm-YOPS Julianstown Youth Orchestra
- 1.40pm – YOPS Senior Orchestra +YOPS Junior+Julianstown Youth Orchestra
- We are being joined for a return visit by the Julianstown Youth Orchestra
- Chewing Gum is not permitted in the Helix.
- Students may only enter and leave the concert venue via the stage door at the rear of the building
- Students should bring a packed snack and drink for the pre concert break

The Irish Association of Youth Orchestras (IAYO) presented the Agnes O’ Kane Award to Kitty Dalligan.
On Saturday 8th February, at the 19th Festival of Youth Orchestras Concert in the National Concert Hall Kitty was presented with the Agnes O’Kane Award. The award was presented to Kitty by Philip O’Kane for her work in contributing significantly to the development of
young musicians and youth orchestras in Ireland.

26th April 2014 , Helix Concert for both Senior and Junior Orchestras
Please note that tickets for this concert will go on sale through the Helix Box Office and online on the 1st March. Tickets will be 12 euros per adult and 8 euros per child/OAP. There is a booking fee of 2 euros per ticket for online booking or 1 euro per ticket booked in person through the Helix box office.
Tickets will also be on sale at the YOPs rehearsal on Sunday 2nd March from 10am whereby there will be no booking fee payable. Payment must be by cash, or a cheque made payable to ‘YOPS’.
Tickets cannot be reserved in advance on or the day.

Fundraising Success
We have had a very successful fundraising with the clothes for YOPS.
I would like to thank all the parents and the orchestra members who donated to the clothes collection so generously and the parents who helped that morning with the collection and storage of the bags.
We received 928kg of goods and this raised 554 euros for YOPS with another 54 euros going to the LauraLynn Hospice.
A special thank you to Lorraine Harbison for facilitating the storage and the collection of the clothes in the CICE building

Dear Parent & YOPS member,
I would like to welcome back your child after the summer break. I hope that you all had a very enjoyable break and that you are ready to join us again for another exciting year ahead.
For this term we are planning a Christmas concert on the 1st December 2013 venue to be confirmed.
The Senior YOPS Orchestra has been invited to perform at a Concert in St. Werburgh’s Church on Wednesday 22nd January 2014 at 7.00 pm as part of the 2014 TradFest Music Festival.
The Helix is booked for our Year end Concert on 26th April 2014
Parent Support/Roster for Parents
I would like to thank the parents for their support last year in preparing the refreshments and supervising the students during our breaks. Due to the Orchestras growth in numbers we would greatly appreciate all your support with our fundraising events and monthly supervision requirements.
This year the breaks for both orchestras will be 11.15 to 11.45am and I would like to ask every parent to volunteer to supervise at least one break in the year. We will need 6 parents for each rehearsal day from 10.50-12.00am
In order to organise this roster, we will be emailing you in the next week, details of how you will be able to advise us on line your availability for roster duty before the 8th September. We will then prepare the Break Supervision Roster, put it on our website, and a copy will be on display on the notice board at each rehearsal.
During the year if you become unable to fulfil your roster commitment, we would appreciate if you could arrange a swoop with another parent between yourselves and let us know.
Orchestra Fees
This year’s membership fee is retained 115 euros per student and 95 euros for second family members. This is necessary to cover the insurance, heating and rent of the hall. Fees must be paid by Sunday 8th September 2012.
Please also ensure the Conditions of Membership form is also returned with your fees.
I would ask you to confirm receipt of this email to verify your email address by an email reply to kitty@yops-ireland.com. If you are not planning to return to YOPS, I would be grateful if you could let me know and to please arrange the return of the YOPS music and folder
